This is only one of several "gaggles" of this activist organization located around the world. This group of older women activists use song and humor to call attention to serious social and political issues. On November 14, 2008, I videotaped them singing to and with about 200 people in front of the Capitol Building in Salem, Oregon. The purpose of the demonstration was show opposition to Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Western Oregon Plan for Revision (WOPR) which includes plans to cut down trees in old growth forests in Western Oregon and sell them to corporate entities. The protestors believe that cutting down old growth trees contributes to global warming and destruction of the Earth's environment.
